Study Planned on Sediment Inflows to Lewis & Clark Lake

A group working to slow sediment buildup in Lewis & Clark Lake is looking at some possible actions.
Sandy Stockholm. Executive Director of the Missouri Sedimentation Action Coalition, spoke to the Yankton County Commission Tuesday.
She says they want to study placing sediment collectors in the Niobrara River in northeast Nebraska…..

Stockholm says they have some hope of slowing the inflows to the lake…..

Stockholm says more of an overall plan is needed for the long term……

The Corps of Engineers has estimated that half of the lakes capacity would be filled by sediment by 2045.
The county commission agreed to send a letter of support for the coalitions grant application.
