South Dakota Nursing Homes Face Funding Issues

Nineteen nursing homes in South Dakota run by Skyline Health Care have been placed in receivership after the state health department was notified the company could not pay its bills, and residents could be in danger.
Representative Wayne Steinhauer of Hartford chaired an interim committee two years ago that focused on long term care. He says many nursing homes are still underfunded……

Steinhauer says it may be difficult to change policy rapidly……

Steinhauer says there are some critical issues in nursing home operation….

The recommendations from the 2016 interim committee were rejected in the 2017 session. Steinhauer says he expects nursing homes to be an issue again in the 2019 session
