The Executive Directors of the South Dakota Stock Grower’s and Cattlemen’s Association were named “”Friends of the Beef Industry” by South Dakota State University at this weekend’s Beef Bowl in Brookings. Stock Growers Executive Silvia Christen says she was “floored” by winning the award.
Cattlemen’s Executive Jodie Anderson say she’s honored but that it was team effort in putting together the Rancher’s Relief Fund that raised money for producers impacted by the Atlas Blizzard.
Through Christen and Anderson’s efforts the Ranchers Relief fund raised and distributed $ 5.5 million to 600 Western South Dakota families who lost 43,000 head of cattle, sheep and horses.
