Environmental Protection Agency Interim Administrator Andrew Wheeler has approved sorghum as an eligible feedstock under the Renewable Fuel Standard. South Dakota grower and Sorghum Checkoff Board member David Fremark says the approval is welcome and long overdue. He says it’ll bring immediate benefits to South Dakota.

He says the approval is also timely in that agriculture has been going through so much economic stress and this should give it a boost.

Fremark says Interim administrator Andrew Wheeler has been listening to the people something his predecessor failed to do.

Not only does the sorghum approval help ethanol plants, it also adds value to the grain farmers produce.
