This week the House passed a budget measure that includes a $ 3 billion cut to the crop insurance program. The legislation was approved after an agreement was reached between leaders to fix the crop insurance cut when they approve the spending bill later on. South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says crop insurance must be restored and he feels good about commitments from Congressional leaders that will happen.
Rounds blames President Obama for pushing for the crop insurance cut in the budget.
Rounds says crop insurance has worked well in the past and is a much needed program.
The Senate is expected to take up the budget bill sometime next week.
