South Dakota legislators return to Pierre next week for the start of the 2018 session.
The main topic will be dealing with sluggish revenues, and low budget expectations.
One of the biggest factors is the huge drop in farm income.
State Representative Lee Qualm of Platte says while ag is the biggest part of the economy, there isn’t much lawmakers can do to help……

Qualm, House majority leader, says there has been some discussion of rules around livestock production…..

Qualm says it may be time for another look at state branded cattle….

Qualm says the new precision ag center under construction at South Dakota State University will be a big help for production ag.
