South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard has proposed expanding Medicaid insurance coverage in the state, working with the Indian Health Service to cover costs.
The Governor says he knows some legislators will have a difficult time supporting the plan…..
Daugaard says about fifty thousand of those that would be covered are working…..
The expansion would bring more than seventy thousand people under Medicaid.
Daugaard says he knows there are concerns about expanding the federal deficit, but this plan would actually cut costs….
The plan will depend on cooperation from the Indian Health Service and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
