Another South Dakota Farmers Union district has voted in favor of resolutions calling for the resignation of the state officers, and a special election. District 3 passed the resolutions on a 20-14 vote. Joan Wollschlager of Lake Preston says she voted to approve the resolution due to the mounting evidence of election fraud and mistreatment of employees and volunteers by the leadership.

She witnessed problems with the election at the state convention in December. She says Executive Director Karla Hofhenke counted the ballots without a third party or the lawyer present, who she then questioned directly.

Wollschlager says she also wants to know why the credentials cards were not kept, especially with a race so close. Incumbent President Doug Sombke defeated challenger Garret Bischoff of Beadle County by only 163 votes.

With the vote of the three districts fully 60-percent of the Farmers Union voting membership is now asking for the resignation of the state officers.
