The Environmental Protection Agency held a hearing this week in Chicago on their proposed rule governing ethanol flex fuel provisions. Renewable Fuel Association Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper testified. He says the agency is trying to tighten their regulation over flex fuel vehicles and blenders and retailers.
He says EPA’s proposal won’t work for retailers who are blending ethanol for flex fuel vehicles.
Cooper says the other problem with the proposed rule is it doesn’t fix the reid vapor pressure regulation that prevents retailers from offering E 15 during the summertime.
Cooper says the agency released their proposal in early November and its now in a sixty day public comment period that closes January 17. He says besides his oral testimony, RFA will be submitting written comments.
