As expected President Obama vetoed the recently passed resolution of disapproval that would have killed the EPA’s Waters of the U.S. Rule. The President stated that clarifying the scope of the Clean Water Act is critical to efforts to keep the Nation’s waters clean and safeguard public health.
South Dakota Senator John Thune says the veto was no surprise and it will only intensify the action in the courts.
Despite that effort, Thune says Congress will not give up their fight against EPA’s regulatory regime that has become a burden to agriculture and the general economy.
Currently there is a court stay on the Waters of the U.S. rule that’s keeping the regulation from being implemented nationwide.
