The popularity of sorghum continues to increase. A recent report predicts there will be one percent more acres of sorghum planted in 2017 over this year. Sorghum Checkoff Board Chairman and South Dakota grower David Fremark says he expects even more acres to be planted to the crop next spring.

He says there’s been great demand for sorghum both from renewable fuels and on the export front.

Fremark says sorghum works well as a source for ethanol.

Sorghum is expected to pull acres away from corn in 2017.
