This week Bayer completed its $63 billion purchase of Monsanto. Organization for Competitive Markets officials are continuing to register concern with the regulatory approvals of this deal. OCM Executive Director Joe Maxwell says it’s concerning a foreign entity has bought a major U.S. corporation and appears to have monopolistic control over the market.

He says his group will continue monitoring how the Bayer acquisition of Monsanto impacts America’s farmers.

Maxwell says farmers are already being negatively impacted by rising input costs and now have to deal with this latest acquisition of Monsanto by Bayer.

Maxwell says the other major merger OCM is concerned about is the expected finalization soon of Brazil company Marfrig’s purchase of National Beef.
