The grand opening was held this week for a new biodiesel blending facility installed by Gerstner Oil in Yankton. It’s a joint project with the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. Director Kenny Schulte says the ability to blend biodiesel at any level up to 100-percent will make this biofuel available to farmers, truckers and other diesel consumers year round.
Doug Hanson served on the Council during the early biodiesel research phase and says the addition of this blending facility and the growth in the biodiesel industry adds significantly to his bottom line.
The new biodiesel blending facility is located at the Gerstner Oil location on east Highway 50 in Yankton. The next closest facility is in Sioux Falls.
