Nebraska officials are still assessing the exact damage of the weekend snow storm to the state’s winter wheat crop. Caroline Brauer, Executive Director of the Nebraska Wheat Grower’s Association and Ag promotions coordinator for the State Wheat Board says the heaviest snow hit Southwest, Nebraska.
She says they’re trying to determine if there was any tiller damage in the wheat, mainly in Southwest, Nebraska.
Brauer says wheat in the Northern Panhandle may have weathered the storm the best due to its stage of growth. She says the biggest concern is in the Southwest.
Brauer says it’ll likely take a least a week before they know just how badly the wheat was hurt.
