National Farm Safety Week Proclaimed

Its National Farm Safety Week and good time to remind farmers and other workers to take the necessary precautions to prevent accidents during the harvest season. Bruce Alexander is director of the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center. He says the commemoration was started nearly 75 years ago.

Alexander says while National Farm Safety week bring added attention to the dangers of farming, they emphasize farm safety year round.

He says the farm community is doing a better job of trying to stay safe on the farm as the number of accidents and fatalities are down.

H says new technology in agriculture such as auto steer can also help decrease fatigue for farmers and cut down on the number of accidents on the farm.
