NASDA Wants National GMO Labeling

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture have passed a resolution supporting a national uniform labeling policy for genetically modified foods. South Dakota Agriculture Secretary Lucas Lentsch says a national standard is needed to overcome all the problems caused by different and diverse state regulations that hamper bio technology.
Lentsch says G-M-0 foods are completely safe and fit in well with our present food system which is the safest in the world. He says having a national standard would enhance that.
The NASDA resolution does not specifically back Representative Mike Pompeo’s legislation calling for national GMO labeling. Pompeo’s measure would limit labeling of foods with GMO ingredients to those with which FDA finds a food safety problem.
