The wells that provide water to the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System are located near the Missouri River south of Vermillion. River flows continue to erode the banks near those wells, and repairs have been needed.
Executive Director Troy Larson says the damage this year was worse than they thought……..

Larson says they had to add protection to about one thousand feet of river bank…..

This isn’t the first-time bank stabilization has been needed in this area. Larson says they hope to get a few years out of this project……

About a mile and a half of river bank has been built up, at a total cost of about two million dollars. The system used a combination of federal and reserve funds to pay for it.
