While there are no bills supporting it, Medicaid expansion is still alive at the state capital in Pierre.
Senator Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton says discussions are continuing……….

The numbers have been revised a bit to now say that about twenty one thousand people would be added to coverage under expansion. Offered as part of the Affordable Care Act, most of the expansion costs would be covered by federal dollars. Supporters say it could mean hundreds of millions of dollars for the state.
Hunhoff says he is still optimistic that expansion will happen some day……….

.

Opponents of expansion says the state could be on the hook for thirty million dollars annually by 2020.
