This week a federal judge ruled that a challenge to Iowa’s Ag Gag Law can proceed. The lawsuit was brought by ACLU of Iowa, the Animal Legal Defense Fund, PETA, the Center for Food Safety and Public Justice. ACLU Iowa Executive Director Mark Stringer says his group and the other plaintiffs think the ag gag law is unconstitutional and a violation of the free speech rights of individuals.

He expects the legal process to move slowly on their lawsuit and says it could take up to a year and a half.

Federal courts earlier struck down ag gag laws in Idaho and Utah as unconstitutional.
