A group of chefs from one of the largest hotel chains in Japan is touring farming operations in Minnesota this week as part of a U.S. Meat Export Federation trade mission. One of the stops was BLAC-X Farms near Beaver Creek and Co-owner Jay Bakken says the group toured their feedlot to see how the U.S. beef they use in food service is produced.
Bakken says the main questions from this group of food service professionals centered around food safety, which is paramount with consumers in Japan.
While this was a unique trade delegation, Bakken says their visit is still about putting a face on the product for the customer.
The tour is also supported by the Minnesota Beef Council and Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.
