A tanker carrying more than 4,300 gallons of liquid fertilizer tipped over in Odebolt, Iowa on Friday. Ken Hessenius with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says some of the ammonium thiosulfate fertilizer ran into Odebolt Creek.

He says the good news is that there wasn’t much environmental impact from the spill, as it was contained to only about 15 gallons.

Hessenius says the clean up has been completed by the tanker company, Northland Transportation.

The DNR has tested the water quality at several places and found elevated levels of ammonia in the tributary, but not downstream. DNR will consider appropriate enforcement action.
