Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement leaders have scheduled a series of meetings this month and early in April to gain input on what changes should be made to the state’s master matrix. ICCI’s Erica Blair says they’ve already heard from some of their members wanting bigger separation distances between large farms and waterways.
She says by strengthening the master matrix, they’re hoping to see better protections from agricultural runoff.
Blair says there may need to be legislative action taken in order to get stronger master matrix rules.
Meetings have been set this month for March 15 in Greenfield, March 21 in Lohrville, March 30 in Ames and April 4 in Solon and April 8 in LeMars. For more information go to the Iowa CCI website.
