The House Agriculture Committee has set a hearing for Wednesday to review the process of developing the 2015 Dietary Guidelines. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Todd Wilkinson says his group has several concerns with the dietary recommendations and thinks the committee went further than they were required to.

House Ag Committee Chairman Mike Conaway agrees with Wilkinson and joins many other lawmakers that oppose the recommendations.

Wilkinson hopes if the recommended guidelines stand that the House Ag Committee will vote to cut off funding for implementation.

At Wednesday’s hearing the House Ag Committee will hear from Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell.
