Graduate students in Nebraska are raising awareness about a tax increase they’re facing from the tax reform bill on Capitol Hill.

Julia Reilly with the UNL Graduate Student Association says, right now, any tuition waiver a student receives is not taxed.

She says the plan before Congress would consider the amount waived as income.

The change was made in the tax bill the House passed.

Reilly says it would be a big change in their financial status.

Reilly says graduate students across the country are contacting their representatives in Congress to make the change.
