Farm Bill Stopped in the US House

Farm Bill Stopped in the US House

Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is optimistic a better Farm Bill can come up for another House vote.
The chamber failed to approve the bill Friday after all Democrats and a faction of Republicans withheld support.
Fortenberry says part of the disagreement is over taking money from SNAP – or food stamps – and using it to get recipients back to work.

Fortenberry says many of his GOP colleagues withheld support because of immigration.

There is a motion to reconsider the failed bill, but Fortenberry says he’s not sure when that will happen.
The US Senate is still working on its version of the Farm Bill.
