Ethanol Industry Still Waiting For Year Round Allowance Of Sales Of E15

Ethanol Industry Still Waiting For Year Round Allowance Of Sales Of E15

Last week the Trump administration promised there might be an announcement this week about approving year round use of E15. Renewable Fuels Association Executive Vice President Geoff Cooper says while they were glad to hear the administration was moving ahead with that, there’s been no official word yet.

He says for ethanol demand to flourish, year round use of E15 is needed as well as curtailing of small refiner exemptions.

Cooper says the reason for the hold up of allowing year round use of E15 has been tied to opposition from the oil and gas industry.

Cooper says his group keeps hearing that allowing year round use of E15 as well as fixing the small refiner waiver exemption is tied to offering the oil and gas industry something in return.
