Climate Change Deal Could Boost Ethanol Push

Climate Change Deal Could Boost Ethanol Push

At a recent meeting between President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, an agreement was announced to address climate change and transition away from fossil fuels. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Todd Sneller says that deal should lead to carbon reductions and may have positive implications for the ethanol industry.

He says the agreement should also force EPA to increase the renewable fuel volume standards going forward. While EPA hasn’t followed the statute, Sneller says many Governors and various state leaders have continued to push for it.

Sneller says consumers have a role to play in addressing climate change and transitioning from fossil fuels.

Sneller says further development of E15 and higher ethanol blends will also help consumers address the carbon and climate change problem.
