Oral arguments have been set for April 24 in a Washington D.C. appeals court where biofuel groups claim the EPA has mismanaged the renewable fuel standard. Renewable Fuels Association Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says they’re arguing the EPA used improper methodology when setting the RFS volume obligations for 2014 through 2016.

He says the agency was also tardy in finalizing the volume obligations required for the RFS.

Cooper says they want the court to require the EPA to set clearly known RFS volume levels using the right methodology.

Cooper says the RFS levels set by the EPA impacts all types of biofuels from first generation to second generation ethanol and biodiesel.
