Nearly 120 biodiesel producers are in Washington D.C. this week, meeting with members of Congress. National Biodiesel Board’s, Ben Evans says their top issue is a stronger volume requirement included for biodiesel in the Environmental Protection Agency’s renewable fuel standard proposal.
The EPA’s proposal would increase biodiesel by about 100 million gallons per year to 1.9 billion gallons in 2017. Evans says their second issue is working for an extension of the biodiesel tax credit.
Evans says the tax extension approval is important now before it gets pushed back to the end of the year or into 2016, which is an election year.
