South Dakota legislators will be back in Pierre next month for a special session to authorize the collection of sales taxes from online retailers.
Governor Dennis Daugaard made that call and will have two bills that would put those collections in motion.
While there have been estimates of as much as fifty million dollars a year in additional taxes, Daugaard says it’s really hard to say….
Daugaard says many retailers already pay taxes for online sales..
Daugaard says any additional sales taxes will also be split with towns and cities..
The special session is set for September twelfth.
