Four Congressmen led by Virginia Representative Bob Goodlatte have introduced legislation that would cap ethanol blends to no more than 9.7-percent by volume. Renewable Fuel Association Senior Vice President Geoff Cooper says the measure, if approved, would limit consumer choice.
He says the proposed legislation would accomplish exactly what the petroleum industry wants, which is elimination of the renewable fuel standard.
Cooper says the biofuels industry has already exceeded the artificial blend wall the petroleum industry is claiming is in place.
Cooper says the ethanol cap legislation would also send climate change policy back decades and limit investment in new technologies and new fuels.
