AGP will break ground today for their 45-million-bushel per year soybean processing facility in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Vice President of Corporate Relations and Government Affairs Matt Caswell says the plant will process nearly 20-percent of the soybean production in South Dakota and will have a significant economic impact on the region.

Caswell says they chose Aberdeen for several reasons including the expansion of the soybean belt north and west in the corn belt.

He says the plant location is also ideal for transporting meal to their export terminal in the Pacific Northwest at Gray’s Harbor.

The plant will help improve basis levels for soybean farmers in the Aberdeen area. The plant is expected to be completed in 2019.
