American Coalition for Ethanol members lobbied members of Congress this week on renewable fuel issues, including the need to increase the use of E15 and higher ethanol blends. Dana Lewis Chief Administrative Officer of Redfield Energy in South Dakota talked to lawmakers from state’s with large population centers. The goal was to get their support for legislation to allow use of E15 year round, which is being limited by Reid Vapor Pressure regulations.

She says while most of the lawmakers they talked to support the Renewable Fuel Standard, many didn’t know about the E15 Reid Vapor Pressure issue. Lewis says they urged them to back a pair of bills to allow summer usage of E15.

Lewis says getting more ethanol into the fuel supply will generate economic benefits, as well as address climate change.

ACE members made their Hill visits on Wednesday and Thursday as part of their annual Fly-In.
