The itinerary!
Day 1:
Fly Omaha to Washington DC
Arrive in DC middle afternoon
Walking tour of Albert Einstein Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial and World War II Memorial
On your own for dinner and to explore the rest of the evening
Day 2:
8:15am Depart hotel to bus stop
9am Board Hop on, Hop off Big Bus to Arlington National Cemetery, including the Tomb of the Unknown, JFK Eternal Flame, Arlington House and Iwo Jima Memorials.
Lunch On your own
Ride Hop on, Hop off or DC Circulator to your choice of locations, possibly the Air & Space, American History, Natural or Art Museums
7pm Night tour from Willard Hotel
Day 3:
8am Depart hotel to Circulator bus stop
8:30am Visit the Library of Congress, then US Supreme Court
10:30am Tour the US Capitol — Possible visit at US House of Representatives and/or Senate
Lunch At US Capitol Cafeteria
3pm Tour of Bureau of Engraving & Printing
On your own to explore the rest of the afternoon
Day 4:
Take Amtrak train to Philadelphia! You’ll see Independence Hall, Washington Square, The Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin’s grave and scores of other historical places/buildings.
That evening, we’ll return to DC via Amtrak
Day 5:
8:45am Depart hotel to bus stop
9am Take DC Circulator bus to Smithsonian Castle (Visitors Center), then your choice of Air & Space, American History, Natural or Art Museums.
Lunch On your own in the museum cafeteria
1pm Visit the Holocaust Museum (timed tickets)
Take DC Circulator to the Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. and Franklin D Roosevelt Memorials
8pm in Lobby — Optional night time walk to monuments/memorials
Day 6:
See the site you missed earlier in the trip! Fly home that afternoon
