The Corps of Engineers is predicting below normal runoff into the Missouri River system this year.

Kevin Grode, an engineer in the Corps Omaha office, compared last years runoff with this year’s prediction…..(NEWS16)(average)(:23)

Grode says soils are dry and there isn’t much snow pack across the basin…..(NEWS17)(snow melts)(:21)

Grode says mountain snowpack is also below normal so far…..(NEWS18)(mid April)(:17)

The below normal forecast follows several years of above normal to record runoff in the basin.
