Yankton Voters Approve Aquatic Center Property Tax Opt Out

Voters in the City of Yankton strongly supported a property tax opt out to fund construction of an aquatic center in Fantle Memorial Park.
The vote (Tuesday) was 2481 yes, 1266 no, a sixty six to thirty four percent margin in favor of the twelve million dollar opt out.

Mayor Nathan Johnson says it’s a relief to be able to move forward…

Johnson says the city will soon begin the design process….

Johnson says they could see construction start late next summer….

Turnout for the special election was just over forty three percent.
