The City of Yankton will continue to work to bring new retail development to the city.

A citizen asked the city commission at their last meeting about a report indicating that it would be difficult for any more large retail stores to locate in the area.

City Manager Amy Nelson says they continue to have contacts with interested retail companies…

Nelson said the city is actively seeking out possible new businesses…

Nelson says the city will use tax and financial incentives as needed to land new developments…

The city bought a large piece of the old Human Services Center land for possible development. Soccer groups are currently the only users of that land.
