The Yankton School District is laying the groundwork for a property tax opt out.
The first of several public information meetings was held at Yankton High School Wednesday night.
Superintendent Wayne Kindle opened by talking about a survey done in the district last year…..
Kindle says the district has a structural deficit which will grow….
The proposed opt out would be for one point eight five million dollars over four years.
Kindle says they can’t wait until the last minute..
The issue could go to a vote as soon as next February.
