Yankton School District Could See Over One Million Dollars in New Funding Plan

The legislature has passed, and the Governor has signed a package of bills that will provide a massive infusion of new money to South Dakota school districts. The key was a half cent sales tax increase that will provide over sixty million dollars for higher teacher pay.
Yankton School Superintendent Dr Wayne Kindle says they are just working out lots of details….

The plan was sold as raising average teacher pay to forty eight thousand dollars. Kindle says people have to remember that is an average….

Kindle says the new law has a lot of accountability built in…..

The new law becomes effective on July first, and schools will make the budget changes for the fall term.
