The Yankton School Board will hold the budget hearing for their 2019 – 2020 budget at next months meeting.
During last Monday nights meeting, discussion about the budget indicated there is about a four hundred-thousand-dollar structural deficit that will be carried over.
Superintendent Wayne Kindle says that is the result of a big cut in state aid in 2011….
Kindle says that deficit will have to be addressed in the near future…
Kindle says parents and the community told them to add programs and not to make more cuts..
Kindle says the opt out discussion will pick up in the fall looking toward the next budget year.
