The Yankton School Board has given preliminary approval to their budget for the next school year. General fund spending will be about seventeen and a half million dollars, with about three hundred fifty thousand dollars transferred from reserves.
Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kindle says they have pulled back from the financial brink…..

A few years ago it looked like the district would burn through their reserve fairly quickly.
Kindle says an infusion of additional state dollars for teacher pay raises was a big help…..

The district got over a million dollars in new money from the sales tax increase.

Kindle says they now have the ability to look at facilities repairs and upgrades…..

Kindle says they will continue to work on shrinking their structural deficit.
