The City of Yankton saw sales taxes surge at the end of 2017, and then helped move the bar above the estimate for the year.
City Manager Amy Nelson says December came in very strong…..

After a slow start to sales taxes last year, Nelson had move her estimate to no gain over the year. She says there are some good signs to sales tax potential this year…..

Nelson says they are now allowing department to make purchases that had been delayed……

Sales taxes make up about fifteen percent of the city’s overall budget.
