Yankton Police Chief Brian Paulsen Resigns; Search to Begin for New Chief

The City of Yankton will be searching for a new police chief.
Current Chief Brian Paulsen submitted his retirement on Friday, and will leave at the end of the month. He is planning to work for a private security firm.
City Manager Amy Nelson says she plans to install an interim chief…..

Nelson says she would like an extensive search……

Nelson says it will take a while to find and hire the right person for the job……

Paulsen has been Chief since 2010. He was suspended one week by Nelson last August for undisclosed reasons.
