The Yankton School Board has decided to add a full time art teacher back to the staff at the Middle School.
The action came at a special meeting of the board today.
Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kindle says it is a good step back from the cuts that were made a few years ago.
High School Principal Dr. Jennifer Johnke says restoring the position will help students as they move through high school.
Board member Jim Fitzgerald says they found out Yankton was trailing most other districts in the state.
The position will be reinstated for the new school year this fall.
