With flags, music and a message, students at Yankton Middle School invited the community to share their observance of Veterans Day.

The guest speaker was Command Sergeant Major Patrick Couser of the South Dakota National Guard.

Couser says he was impressed by the turnout and ceremony….

Couser, in his comments, talked about the importance of family support for their guard members…..

Couser says only about one percent of Americans serve in the military now. He says that has given them some challenges….

Couser was named to his current position with the guard in June of this year, and has been with the guard since 1982.
