Construction on a stalled hotel project in the parking lot of the Yankton Mall should restart as soon as weather permits.

The foundation for the Marriot chain hotel was laid last year, and then financing issues forced it to a halt.

Toby Morris, with Dougherty (door-tee) & Company told the Yankton City Commission Monday night that new financing is in place..

Morris, who is representing the city, says contractors will be ready to restart construction….

Morris says the city is not involved in the financing or construction…

The hotel is a major piece in the tax increment district that will help finance a major remodeling plan for the mall.
