A resolution about Yankton County load limits turned into a lengthy discussion about road conditions, and options.
The Yankton County Commission passed a resolution in January placing a six ton per axle limit during the spring break up period.
Greg Vavra, director of the South Dakota Local Transportation Assistance Program at SDSU, said the county has to try to maintain the roads as they are now…..
Vavra says the counties roads are not in great shape….
Vavra says the county has to set load limits in line with state law…..
The commission then voted to set load limits at eighty thousand pounds, gross vehicle weight, and work on a permitting process for heavier loads. Those load limits will go into effect around March first.
