Yankton County Road Task Force Recommends Tax Hike

The road and bridge task force put together by the Yankton County Commission held a public meeting last night to lay out their findings and recommendations.
The task force is proposing alternate tax increases. One would raise property taxes sixty cents per thousand, the other would raise property taxes thirty cents per thousand and raise the wheel tax by a dollar, up to four wheels.

Commissioner Don Kettering, who headed up the task force, says no one wants to pay more taxes…..

Kettering says there will be more discussion of the tax proposals….

Kettering says they are looking for public input to help solve the road repair issues…..

The commission has to take action by mid-July for the new revenue to be in place by next year.
