A bridge over the James River has been closed after some cracked welds were found following an inspection.
Yankton County Highway Superintendent Brian Gustad says the “Johnson Bridge” was closed after an inspection last week…
The bridge is one of three in the county being rehabilitated through a state “BIG” grant, and Gustad says that is part of the problem…
Gustad says there will be some additional repairs….
Gustad says after the initial repairs, truck traffic will be banned until the project is done late this fall.
Gustad says all four of the James River bridges were inspected, and this bridge was the only one found to have immediate concerns.
