The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office and Yankton EMS responded to a death near 293rd Street & 438th Avenue in the northwest part of the county.
Owners of this property were conducting a controlled burn of CRP land. 66-year-old Bruce Herrboldt of Rapid City was pronounced dead at the scene with severe burns to his body. An autopsy is being performed. The cause of death will be released when the autopsy is concluded. The call came in about 12:15 yesterday Thursday afternoon.
